Inspired by the story of the first encounters between the French Jesuit settlers of Chicago and the native population and sung in the original 17th century French from text taken directly from archival letters, Christopher DietzLe Chemin is “a dramatic presentation of the French perspective on the promise, difficulties, and ultimate tragedy that accompanies the sudden and violent subsumption of one culture into another” in the composer’s words.

Voyageur also featured music by Michael Torke, Peter Seabourne and Derek Bermel.
