In 2011 our annual Composer Alive collaboration was with Canadian composer Omar Daniel. Omar wrote a new piece for the entire Palomar ensemble and sent them to us in four installments. We recorded each installment in front of a live audience as he sent them and then posted them to our website with comments from the composer.
Omar chose to write a set of short preludes and sent them two at a time, not necessarily in the order that they were premiered. In October of 2011 we gave the world premiere of the new piece and fleshed out the concert with the music of other living Canadian composers.
Palomar also traveled to Toronto to perform a concert of the music of American composers.
First Installment recorded 6/28/11
Preludes 1 and 4
Second Installment recorded 7/18/11
Preludes 8 and 10
Third Installment recorded 8/28/11
Preludes 6 and 11
Fourth Installment recorded 10/2/11 in London, Ontario
Preludes 2 and 5
