Music Theory and Composition Lessons

Taking music composition lessons at ACM means being part of an organization that creates innovative programs like the Sound of Silent Film Festival and the Thirsty Ears Festival, Chicago’s only classical music street festival.

ACM regularly commissions music from composers around the world, produces a concert series at the Davis Theater and has been featured on PBS, WFMT, WBEZ, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times to name a few.

We offer private lessons in music composition and theory that can last 30 or 60 minutes and meet once per week.  As this is a private lesson the curriculum can be tailored to fit your goals. 30 minute lessons are $36 and we’re on a monthly enrollment so it’s $144 per month.

Learn the building blocks of music and how to notate your musical ideas for a variety of different instruments.  Good music theory and composition skills are the bedrock to complete musicianship.
