Music as a life force
Nadav Amir-Himmel was born in 1985 in Israel. At an early age he studied piano and composition and later won the award status of outstanding musician during his service in the IDF army. Nadav is an award winning composer and pianist. His work has traveled the globe time and time again.
In 2012 he was awarded first prize in Prague during a composition competition. Just months later the Jerusalem Symphony performed his piece “Galatea of the Spheres.” His compositions have been performed in USA, Germany and Israel. Nadav is not only a talented composer, but has also traveled to the United States to give lectures on the relationships between different art forms in contemporary culture.
His passion is composing pieces that are inspired by different works created by Salvador Dali. For him Dali is an influence, a conduit, but not a reason. “Music doesn’t needs an outside reason – I has its own reason for be alive.” He will, instead try to write in connection to the players or places – for instances, if its a specific city he will check about it, about its history and staff. But, many times he is an intuitive composer who flows with his musical ideas without trying to relate it to an outside reason.
