Classical music has come a long way from the days of wigs and quill pens. Today’s composers use software to notate their ideas and are inspired by rock, jazz, folk music from around the world and much more: a stunning array of influences that create a rich and fascinating sonic palette.
Access Contemporary Music is committed to showcasing the exciting developments in contemporary classical music by bringing it to life through innovative collaborations, music in public spaces, the Sound of Silent Film Festival, our Composer Alive commissioning program and by fostering the creation of new music in our storefront music schools.
Our 2017 production season will include Open House events in Milwaukee, Barcelona and Chicago, the return of our Sound of Silent Film Festival to Chicago and New York and, (new this year,) Mexico City, an exciting 4-concert series at National Sawdust in Brooklyn in partnership with Open G Records, and the launch of a new three-concert season at the Davis Theater in Chicago.
We’ll also reprise our Thirsty Ears street festival
With exciting events in Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, Barcelona and Mexico City and dozens of new commissions, it’s going to be an action-packed year for ACM and we hope you’ll join us in person, on the radio for our broadcasts, or on our website through our video documentation.
