Composer Alive: Poland Part III is March 20

ACM’s Palomar ensemble will record the third installment in our collaboration with Warsaw composer Agnieszka Stulginska on Friday, March 20 at 7:00 PM in the ACM School of Music in Avondale.

Composer Alive is a project in which we commission a composer in a different country every year to write a piece in short installments and email each installment as she writes it.  Palomar then records the installment in front of a live audience and we post it to our website for the composer to listen to.

We encourage the composer to try anything and everything, to take risks, because if something doesn’t work in one installment, she can always change it in the next.

This way of working also reveals the creative process to the listener, allowing them to get into the composer’s mind and read her comments as they hear the piece develop from first draft, through rewrites, to the finished product.
