The 2011-2012 concert season saw a lot of changes at ACM. It was the last year our Sound of Silent Film Festival was held at the Chopin Theater, it marked the end of an era as the Chicago Composer’s Forum closed its doors and merged into ACM, it was the first Open House collaboration with the Chicago Architecture Foundation and the last time we did our Spring Spectacular concert at the Green Mill.
We also collaborated with Toronto composer Omar Daniel for our Composer Alive project, celebrated the 65th anniversary of iconic composer John Adams with an ambitious concert of his large-scale chamber works, and wrapped up our long-running Weekly Readings program with a concert of several of the very best pieces submitted over the years.
In many ways this was a pivotal season for us and we get a little misty thinking about it.
