Stacy Garrop has received several awards including the 2006/2007 Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Elaine Lebenbom Memorial Award, 2005 Raymond and Beverly Sackler Music Composition Prize, 2005 and 2001 Barlow Endowment commissions, and a 2002 Artists Fellowship Award from the Illinois Arts Council. Dr. Garrop was the 2004-2005 composer-in-residence of Chicago’s Music in the Loft chamber music series, where her works were performed by the Biava Quartet, Enso Quartet, and Lincoln Trio; she served in this capacity again in 2006. The Biava Quartet regularly performs her “String Quartet No. 2: Demons and Angels,” and they recently recorded the piece for Cedille Records which will receive its commercial release in the fall of 2007. Theodore Presser Company and Hildegard Publishing Company publish several of her works.
