Gia SastreGia Sastre, originally from Miami, Fl., graduated with highest honors with a Master of Music in Flute Performance from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University. Gia was also the recipient of a Jeanette Humphress endowed scholarship for International Flute Study and traveled to London to pursue a resident course of study with Paul Edmund-Davies, principal flutist of the London Symphony Orchestra. Other teachers have included several of the world’s most distinguished flutists including Eva Amsler, Charles Delaney, Louise Dixon, Stephanie Jutt, Anita Rieder, Christina Smith, and Mary Stolper. In addition, Gia is a 2006 Musicians Club of Women Farwell Award winner and performs with chamber groups, new music ensembles, and orchestras throughout Chicago.
