Music Theory
The appreciation and performance of music is greatly enhanced by the understanding of the harmonic structure of music. This class will guide students through the building blocks of the musical language developed by classical composers of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries.
Topics to be addressed include intervals, dissonance and consonance, major and minor scales, key signatures and the circle of fifths and fourths, triads, and basic voice-leading.
Students will be assigned music-writing and analytic exercises designed to help them gain mastery over the fundamental concepts of music.
Wednesday evenings from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM with Theresa Gigante. This is an eight-week class, beginning on September 8, 2010 and the cost is $150 per person
