Now in its seventh year, ACM's High School composers summer workshop is an excellent opportunity for young musicians to work with professional composers and write a new piece of music to be performed and recorded by professional musicians.

Whether the student is already composing, considering a career in music, or is interested in learning to compose for the first time, this summer program provides the tools for success.

All students will receive:

  • Seven three-hour sessions in which they work with a professional composer, and their classmates, to compose a new piece of music.
  • Workshops with professional musicians who will be on hand to read through the works in progress, to demonstrate their instruments and to answer questions
  • A final performance of their finished pieces in Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University
  • A master class with an internationally recognized composer
  • A professional quality CD recording of their finished work
  • Confidence in their ability to express themselves musically and to speak articulately about their music
