James Martin
James Martin has played in the Chicago area since 1988, and has been Associate Concertmaster of the Elgin Symphony since 1995. He has played with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Grant Park orchestras, and enjoys a healthy freelance life including work with the Chicago Opera Theater.
James attended the Interlochen Arts Academy, The University of Houston where he studied with Fredell Lack, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He served as concertmaster with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas in that orchestra's first two seasons. He holds a BA with a major in mathematics from Northwestern University.
