Amos GillespieAmos Gillespie has developed a career in music as an equal participant in both performance and composition, principal instruments consisting of saxophone and piano. He acquired a bachelor's degree in saxophone performance at Northern Arizona University where he studied with Wildy Zumwalt and Jonathan Bergeron. Amos took composition lessons with Dr. Bruce Reiprich, as well as jazz improvisation lessons with Joel Debartolo. Amos has had his works performed by various chamber ensembles and jazz ensembles at Northern Arizona University and the surrounding Flagstaff area; he has also performed and composed for his own jazz combo, "Fromunda Jazz." Currently Amos is pursuing a Masters degree in Music Composition at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he studies with Stacy Garrop. Amos has also taught classical and jazz saxophone lessons at the Northern Arizona University prep school and is currently teaching Jazz combo performance as well as saxophone and piano at the Shaumburg Academy of Music. Amost has been given numberous awards for saxophone performance and improvisation; his most notable ones being talent based scholarships from Northern Arizone University and Roosevelt University.
