High School Composer's Workshop Chicago Musicians

HIGH SCHOOL WORKSHOP

Now in its fifth year, ACM's High School composers workshop is an excellent opportunity for young musicians to work with professional composers and write a new piece of music to be performed and recorded by professional musicians.

Whether the student is already composing, considering a career in music, or is interested in learning to compose for the first time, this workshop provides the tools for success.

All students will receive:

  • Nine three-hour sessions in which they work with a professional composer, and their classmates, to compose a new piece of music.
  • Workshops with professional musicians who will be on hand to read through the works in progress, to demonstrate their instruments and to answer questions
  • A final performance of their finished pieces in Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University
  • A master class with an internationally recognized composer
  • A professional quality CD recording of their finished work
  • Confidence in their ability to express themselves musically and to speak articulately about their music
