Composer Alive: Paris

Composer Alive: Paris is a collaboration between Accessible Contemporary Music and Paris composer Stéphane Delplace. Throughout the Summer of 2008 Stéphane will write a piece in four installments for ACM and we will record and post it as it is written. We will record each installment at the Chicago Cultural Center as he writes it and then post it to our site.

Each posting will contain revisions and new ideas and the overall development of the piece will become more clear as it grows until it is finally finished. In this way audiences can listen to a piece of music from its initial sketch, through its revisions to the final product.

We will post comments from the composer for each installment about his creative process and comments from the performers about the practical aspects of putting the piece together. We feel that by allowing an audience to get inside the composer's mind as he creates a new piece, it provides a frame of reference for the finished product and demystifies the process.
