Meret Bitticks

Meret Bitticks received her Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from De Paul University in 2004, where she studied with Mary Stolper, Louise Dixon, and Hideko Amano. Prior to attending De Paul, Meret graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Music Performance from the Ohio State University under the tutelage of Katherine Borst Jones. She has performed with the Keith Bryon New Sousa Band, Concertante di Chicago, and in the Columbus premier performance of John Corigliano's "Pied Piper Fantasy." Her past honors include winning the 2001 "Columbus Women in Music" Competition and the Theodore Presser Scholarship, as well as performing for the Central Ohio Flute Association Festival Masterclass with Paula Robison.

Currently, Meret is a substitute for the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, a member of the Lill Street Ensemble, and a founding member of the Amaranta Ensemble. Recently, Meret recorded tracks for the Chicago-area band, Head of Femur, whose album will be released in the spring of 2005. A faculty member of both the Music Institute of Chicago and the Community Music Division of De Paul University, Meret teaches both Traditional and Suzuki flute in the Chicagoland area.
