2010-2011 Season

Integrating musical creativity into everyday life

We kicked off the 2010-2011 season with an innovative new program called Songs About Buildings and Moods which featured a walking tour through handpicked landmark buildings in the Chicago loop, each of which had musicians inside performing music that had been written especially for the building by one of our composer members.

The event was extremely successful and became the blueprint for our Open House collaborations which are now happening in cities around the world.  We also performed a concert of contemporary music from Japan as the culmination of our Composer Alive collaboration with Tomohisa Hashimoto and presented an evening of new vocal settings of the “newspaper blackout” poems of Austin Kleon.

Naturally we also continued perennial favorites like our Sound of Silent Film Festival and Spring Spectacular concert at the legendary Green Mill.
